PortaOne and Snom invite you to a joint webinar on automated IP phone provisioning to Snom devices via PortaOne iPaaS.
This new integration greatly reduces the time between the release of a new Snom phone and the time you can actually start selling it (and auto-provisioning is a must!) as a part of hosted IP PBX service on PortaSwitch. In fact, it reduces it from roughly six months down to just four weeks. Moreover, the apps enabling the auto-provisioning have been developed entirely by the manufacturer (Snom), demonstrating how easily the iPaaS marketplace can be extended with contributions from third-party app partners.
In the past, when phone auto-provisioning modules were a part of the PortaSwitch code, a CSP interested in using new IP phones (by Snom or any other manufacturer) would have to:
- Organize the purchase and physical shipment of the devices to our R&D lab, resulting in all sorts of transport and customs delays
- Wait several months while development of the provisioning module (CPE profile) was slotted into our development schedules for the next Maintenance Release (MR)
- And take the next step: the customer who originally requested the auto-provisioning profile for an IP phone had to update their PortaSwitch to the corresponding MR once it was released
All this took six months or more from the initial request to the moment when these new phones could be sold to customers. And for every new phone model released by phone manufacturers such as Snom, there would be a 6+ month delay, plus added development cost. Now, with the help of PortaOne iPaaS, it’s possible to speed up this process to just four weeks. That’s because Snom is now collaborating closely with PortaOne to directly supply the iPaaS apps that enable auto-provisioning for their devices to the iPaaS marketplace.
Through direct collaboration between PortaOne and trusted device manufacturers like Snom, you will soon be able to access a wide variety of IP phone provisioning apps on our marketplace. This enables you to offer the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) programs that are attractive to end users.
All you need to do is to subscribe to PortaOne iPaaS. When each new device is released, an iPaaS app to enable auto-provisioning will be made available shortly after – automatically, without the need to submit a request. That means no more development fees, and only having to subscribe to the relevant iPaaS apps to provision the devices you actually use.
Working directly with phone vendors to initiate the development process is a big step for PortaOne. Now that we don’t need to find sponsors for each auto-provisioning profile first, we can dramatically increase the number of auto-provisioning profiles available to our customers on the PortaSwitch platform. With Snom, we are able to provision the phones right away because the auto-provisioning profiles are provided directly by the manufacturer.
And we aren’t limited to working with preferred phone vendor partners like Snom! The iPaas marketplace enables any third-party developers to become an app partner and collaborate with us (and earn revenue-share income for doing so!). CSPs that have the technical skills and resources have already started developing their own auto-provisioning apps, which will be made available via the PortaOne iPaaS marketplace. Submitting an app (e.g., for phone auto-provisioning) to the iPaaS marketplace is open to anybody who wants to contribute – whether that’s a vendor or a customer who initially created them for their own needs.
