Self-Care App from PortaOne: a few years ago, we launched a mobile-friendly web version of our self-care portal, giving  end users convenient subscription management while reducing development and support time for MVNOs. Mobile Self-care is now Available as a Native App

Whether you’re an established MVNO or a market newcomer looking to launch quickly, your end users want the ability to self-manage their subscribed services. 

This is where PortaOne’s self-care portal comes in. Mobile self-care enables your end users to self-manage key aspects of their subscribed services over the web anytime, anywhere, without talking to an operator or sending USSD codes.

Since most users manage their services on the go, we launched a customizable, mobile-friendly web version several years ago, making it even easier to interface with the portal via smartphone touchscreens.

Now, PortaOne is pleased to announce that we’ve extended this mobile self-care functionality into a fully-native Mobile self-care app for Android, with an iOS version coming out in summer 2025. Check out our short YouTube video for a quick overview.

How Self-care Benefits Both MVNOs and Their Customers

Mobile self-care, whether through the existing self-care portal in a browser on a smartphone or the new native apps, provides both convenience and a certain degree of autonomy, since end users don’t need to rely on an MVNO’s sales or support for everyday account basics, which in turn saves your MVNO organization time and money. 

Traditionally, mobile operators and MVNOs who wanted to offer a self-care app, would have to develop or outsource a lengthy and expensive project to build a custom solution, and subsequently allocate a large number of staff to support and administer it. With our app, this is no longer required. Since it’s available almost immediately, you can get an app to market faster – simply update the white labelling with your brand’s name, logo, and color scheme, and publish the app to the Google Play store under your account. The app supports the English language out of the box, and you can request additional languages from PortaOne’s professional services. 

Offering official mobile apps to your end users can also potentially increase your organization’s credibility. A well-designed and functional app shows a company is forward-thinking and invested in modern technology, which can project an image of reliability and professionalism. What Features can you Give Your End Users?

Like our existing mobile self-care web portal, our native app securely outsources many of your support and administration tasks to your end users, including:

  • Password Management – users can change or recover a password without contacting your admin staff, freeing up your staff from handling this common and frequent administration task.
  • Service Management – check the remaining service units in a bundle and activate new bundles without sending USSD codes or engaging Sales. This effectively brings in revenue without any effort from sales, who can then focus on other revenue-driving efforts.
  • Top ups of active bundles – purchase individual service top-ups such as additional data using their account balance or a credit card. 
  • Balance top-ups – similar to the previous point, end users can add funds using a credit card or scratch cards (vouchers).
  • Balance Transfers – transfer balance to other subscribers such as a family member or friend.
  • View transaction history – view account transactions, such as top-ups, pay-as-you-go charges, bundle renewals, and more.
