NexTone/PortaOne Solution Enables Creation of Flexible, Scalable, High-quality, and Secure VoIP Networks

NXTCOMM, CHICAGO, June 21, 2007 - NexTone®, a leader in session border controllers and scalable solutions for VoIP, multimedia, and IMS network interconnects, announced an interworking initiative with PortaOne, Inc., the global carrier-grade billing and provisioning vendor, to provide carriers and service providers worldwide with an integrated billing and SIP-H.323 switching solution.

The NexTone MSX (Multi-protocol Session Exchange), when used together with PortaBilling100 for NexTone, allows service providers to create a flexible and scalable VoIP network while ensuring consistent service quality, protection, and security. By applying its signaling intelligence at the edge of the network, the NexTone MSX adapts session signaling to enable carriers to interconnect their SIP and H.323 networks, while PortaBilling100 for NexTone provides call authentication and authorization as well as billing information.

We’ve created PortaBilling100 for NexTone as an advanced version of our flagship product, PortaBilling100, to allow a perfect interoperability with the NexTone MSX. In addition to the standard features of PortaBilling100, such as full prepaid and postpaid billing support, an e-commerce module (credit card clearing, customized invoices), multilingual web interface, and other advanced features, PortaBilling100 for NexTone provides real-time authorization for credit accounts and toll-free calls. Like other products in the PortaOne portfolio, PortaBilling100 for NexTone is provided with source code and an unlimited perpetual license. We also provide customized training at customer premises as well as 24/7 support and maintenance.”

Roman Khalenkov, sales and marketing director at PortaOne

With its most recent enhancements to the NexTone Real-time Session Manager (RSM), NexTone extended Least Cost Routing (LCR) functionality to Lossless LCR to permit margin-based routing decisions. The NexTone MSX continually streams session detail record data collected at interconnects back to the RSM for analysis of session performance. Users can extract performance reports based on route ASR, cost/revenue, and more from the RSM.

Achieva Networks is proud to be the first Tier 2 wholesale carrier in Asia to deploy NexTone with PortaBilling in a Quintum-based network. As a long time PortaOne user and the only reselling partner in Asia, we understand the challenges with VoIP interconnects. Migrating at least 80 million monthly pan-Asia network voice traffic minutes to NexTone’s SBC technology architecture for routes servicing North Asia, India Subcontinent, and ASEAN, will help us maximize our profits.”

Timothy Ngiam, executive director and co-founder, Achieva Networks (Hong Kong) Ltd

NexTone continues to invest its session management and routing platform with intelligence to apply policies at the network edge. We’ll also continue to expand upon the capabilities of our IntelliConnect® product family, including the MSX and the RSM, by interworking with specialized platforms such as PortaBilling100 for NexTone to provide carriers with critical session data.”
