MCP Server for PortaOne Docs

Connect your AI agent (Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or your own custom agent) to the PortaSwitch/PortaBilling documentation so you can ask questions in plain language, for example, “How do I configure ESPF?” or “What’s the API call to check a customer’s balance?” and quickly get accurate answers, without the need to search the documentation and manually feed the results back to your agent. The AI agent searches docs.portaone.com (PortaSwitch/PortaBilling documentation, release notes, and API specifications) to find a relevant feature, configuration steps, or API call, and uses this knowledge to help with your task. If you pair this module with the PortaBilling MCP Server, your AI agent can manage the data in PortaBilling directly via API (for example, change a service configuration for a customer), guided by accurate documentation.

We have a publicly accessible documentation MCP Server for the latest PortaSwitch/PortaBilling release, and the use of it is free for everyone – no subscription needed. If your installation runs an older release, or you want a dedicated instance in your region for faster responses, subscribe to a dedicated instance through the Add-On Mart.

To connect to the public server for the latest release:

  1. Run the setup command for your agent:

    • Claude Code:
      claude mcp add --transport http portaone-docs https://mcp.docs.portaone.com/mcp --scope user

    •
    • OpenAI Codex:
      codex mcp add portaone-docs --url https://mcp.docs.portaone.com/mcp

    •
  2. Restart the AI agent.
  3. Start prompting.

Alternatively, connect to the server using a configuration file:

  • Claude Code: create a .mcp.json file in your project root:
    {
    "mcpServers": {
        "portaone-docs": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.docs.portaone.com/mcp" }
    }
    }
  • OpenAI Codex: add this to ~/.codex/config.toml, then restart Codex:
    [mcp_servers.portaone-docs]
    url = "https://mcp.docs.portaone.com/mcp"

Pricing usage metrics:

An instance is a single installation of the Add-on Mart app with an unlimited number of endpoints or users. A single instance is often associated to a single brand/whitelabel.
