Flexible templates for outgoing emails
Email templates can now be edited directly from the web interface and each customer class can now be assigned its own set of templates. So different customer groups (e.g. retail and corporate clients) can have custom-tailored notifications regarding events such as credit exceeded, posted payment, or overdue invoice.
This tool can also be used to segregate templates by a customer’s preferred language (English, Spanish, Chinese, etc.)Increased billing processing speed
In order to reduce the time required to complete the standard "billing cycle":
- closing customers’ current billing periods,
- creating CSV files with XDRs,
- producing invoices,
- generating PDF files, etc.
PortaBilling now does billing calculations for several customers in parallel. This allows efficient utilization of multiple CPUs/cores in a server and provides a 2-3 times reduction in the amount of time required to complete a billing cycle for all customers. This is especially important for service providers who use "calendar" billing periods, where the majority of all their customers need to be invoiced on the 1st of every month.

All "on-screen" help pages (those which are accessible via the "Help" button in the upper-right corner of every PortaBilling screen) are still accessible with a single mouse click, however the actual content is now located on centralized PortaOne servers. This allows PortaOne’s tech-writing team to update and enhance the help manuals after a specific software version has been officially released.
