End of Technical Support for MR19 and All Other Older Maintenance Releases

In order to provide better service for the currently active versions of the software, PortaOne will no longer provide technical support for Maintenance Release 19 and older versions of PortaSwitch after January 1, 2012.

PortaSwitch Maintenance Release 19 was initially released over 2 years ago in April 2009, and the last build (MR19-3) was released in March 2010. Maintenance Release 19 and older releases are now outdated, and can expose customers to various problems that have already been fixed in newer versions of the software.

This measure does not affect the software functionality – after January 1st all existing PortaSwitch systems running MR19 (or an older release) will continue operating normally. The only difference is that after January 1, 2012 the PortaOne technical support team will not be able to assist with any use, configuration or troubleshooting issues.

The existing documentation will continue to be available through the dedicated archive page.

We recommend that all customers running Maintenance Release 19 perform an upgrade to MR20 (the last release using FreeBSD OS considered to be stable) and then upgrade to MR22 (the latest stable release with Oracle Enterprise Linux, central configuration server and fail-safe software update procedure).

Customers are encouraged to contact PortaOne’s support team to discuss and plan a migration schedule for updating to MR20 at their earliest possible convenience, since this process requires an extended period of time in order to be planned and executed properly, with the required amount of preparation and testing.
