Combination of MERA Systems’ Softswitch plus Session Border Controller with PortaOne’s Billing/Customer Management Platform Provide End-to-End VoIP Traffic Solution

Global communications infrastructure company PortaOne, Inc. and carrier-grade VoIP solutions provider MERA Systems Inc. today announced the successful completion of interoperability testing for two of the companies’ key VoIP network products, MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch Pro (MVTS Pro) and PortaBilling100. Working together, the two products provide an ultra-scalable, flexible and end-to-end platform for handling VoIP transit traffic, combining high-performance management of VoIP traffic with a total billing and customer management solution.

Unveiled in Q2 of 2008, MVTS Pro is MERA Systems’ class 4 softswitch and session border controller platform. Designed to fit a carrier’s growing demands for scalability, redundancy and protocol support, MVTS Pro provides collection, switching and transcoding of VoIP traffic; management of signaling and media data streams; and border access control. Able to process up to 1,000 new calls per second, the product provides carriers with elaborate analysis tools for network control and resolution of quality of service (QoS) problems.

PortaBilling100, PortaOne’s carrier-grade service management and billing solution, allows IP telephony providers to launch, price and provision their services immediately. PortaBilling100 uses a real-time authorization, authentication and billing engine to provide AAA services via the RADIUS protocol. It supports Caller-ID (ANI) based billing, information on priority-based and least-cost routing, CDR processing, and advanced statistics such as cost/revenue and ASR. PortaBilling100 can also be used by wholesale providers who terminate VoIP calls for other providers.
