Vox Mundi
Vox Mundi Telecom is a fast-growing telecommunications company based in Samobor, Croatia. Founded in 1998 as a classic VOIP termination provider, it has diversified in recent years to become one of the leading IP telephony companies in the region, serving partners all across the globe with advanced telecom solutions. Today Vox Mundi is not only a highly successful telecom service enterprise but also an Application Service Provider (ASP), offering an impressive list of clients the ability to perform their own billing using the CISCO and Quintum VoIP gateways, with the option of web access hosted, subscription-based billing services (prepaid and postpaid). ObjectiveAccording to Vox Mundi CEO Dario Vidovic, the problem the company detected as it began growing was that, lacking a high-quality billing software platform, its development potential as an IP telephony provider was being severely restricted. “As a mediator servicing the wholesale networks of other carriers, rather than individual retail customers, billing is of crucial importance to us,” says Vidovic, “since call detail records for our various partners need to be compared on an ongoing basis.” However, extracting CDRs and, above all, translating them into customized data for individual partners proved to be extremely time-consuming and labor-intensive. Solution“Fortunately for us,” Vidovic continues, “we found out about PortaOne’s billing software, which does the job effortlessly and efficiently, creating ready-made reports that save valuable time and resources.” After looking at several competitive telecom billing solutions, Vox Mundi chose PortaOne for its open source, flexible, web-driven, user-friendly, extremely cost-effective software, as well as its comprehensive, high-quality training and support services. The company’s partnership with PortaOne has brought it PortaBilling, a powerful real-time billing and customer care platform that can handle much greater traffic than Vox Mundi’s own ambitious targets currently require. It also brought PortaSwitch, a complete call switching, routing protocol transcoding and VoIP compatibility solution that allows the company to perform traffic exchange much more efficiently, as well as use alternative, more cost-effective SIP termination partners. ResultsSince Vox Mundi began using PortaBilling, its CDR differential has dropped significantly, and currently represents less than 1%. Also, the time needed to establish customer traffic details and issue the relevant invoices is four times faster now, even though the number of customers has nearly tripled since the company began using PortaBilling. Thanks to PortaSwitch’s large feature set and its unlimited license, the company is now able to do profitable business as a PortaSwitch ASP for smaller ITSPs. This in turn enables both Vox Mundi and its ASP customers to provide enterprise (Centrex, IP PBX), residential and callshop services, all without additional SW or HW costs. CEO Dario Vidovic sums it all up by saying: “Thanks to PortaBilling’s add-on features and easy maintenance, Vox Mundi staff have succeeded in achieving their core objective for maintaining and developing the company’s business – a steady, stable flow of traffic.” He adds: “We can attest to the fact that PortaOne’s support is the best in the industry.” |
